Getting to the West Highland Peninsulas

The West Highland Peninsulas may seem remote, but we are closer than you might think and are easily accessible by road or water. Here’s information on the various ways you can get here.

BY ROAD

You can reach us by taking the wonderful and scenic ‘Road to the Isles’ from Fort William or Mallaig. Taking the junction at Lochailort you can follow the quiet coastal route with its spectacular scenery through Moidart and on to Ardnamurchan or Sunart, Morvern and Ardgour.

Our roads do include some single track, so please take your time, and remember to look in your rear view mirror and use the passing places to allow other faster drivers behind you to pass.

BY FERRY

The Corran Ferry runs at regular 30 minute intervals between Nether Lochaber (south of Fort William) and Ardgour. The crossing takes less than 5 minutes and operates from 6.30am (8.30am on Sundays) and 9.30pm all year round. Full details are here and you can keep up to date with sailings on the Twitter feed.

If there ferry is off at Corran we have been working with local businesses and members to put together maps of the alternative routes, showcasing some of the fantastic local businesses and hidden gems along the way. Click on the links to our google maps for full business details and directions:
